I’m Alejandra, a Colombian, Vancouver-based surface designer and illustrator creating playful, commercially driven artwork inspired by nature, animals, travel, colourful markets, folk art, children’s books, botanical details, and the beauty of everyday moments. Over the past five years, I worked at Pela, where I helped build and grow the Art on Demand print and pattern program, developing bestselling prints and product collections for the consumer goods industry. My work focused on creating artwork that connects with people through color, storytelling, and a sense of joy, blending whimsical details with strong, marketable design that feels both fresh and timeless.
I specialize in surface pattern design for products, licensing, and brand collaborations, with a focus on playful florals, character-filled animals, and nature-driven collections. I love creating designs that bring warmth and personality to everyday products, from phone cases and textiles to stationery, home goods, and children’s products. Whether I’m building a full collection or an individual hero print, I’m always looking for ways to create artwork that feels expressive, memorable, and emotionally engaging.
My creative process usually begins with hand-drawn sketches and loose experimentation before refining designs digitally into polished repeat patterns and illustrations. I’m especially drawn to imperfect handmade textures, layered color, and playful compositions that create a sense of warmth and movement. Through my work, I hope to create designs that feel joyful, imaginative, and full of life
